FAQ

PU stone panel questions buyers ask before ordering.

Clear answers on material, installation, outdoor use, fire rating, test reports, size, packing and OEM orders.

Material, Weight and Daily Use

Start here if you are comparing PU stone panels with real stone, cement cultured stone or other lightweight cladding materials.

What material are the panels made from?

The panels are made from composite polyurethane. The molds are taken from stone and wood textures, so the face has a raised 3D surface instead of a flat printed pattern.

How heavy are PU stone panels?

A typical panel system is about 4 kg per square meter. That is much lighter than stone or cement products, which makes handling easier on site and helps reduce transport pressure for wholesale orders.

Do PU panels provide insulation?

Polyurethane has natural thermal insulation properties. It can help with heat preservation and some sound absorption, but it should be treated as an auxiliary decorative layer, not as a replacement for a professional insulation system.

Where can the panels be used?

They are used on residential facades, villa walls, commercial interiors, hotel and restaurant feature walls, retail stores, showrooms and renovation projects where a stone look is needed without heavy masonry work.

Do the panels need daily maintenance?

Maintenance is simple. For indoor walls, dust can be removed with a soft brush, feather duster or air gun. For outdoor areas, mild soap, water and a soft brush are usually enough.

Can the panels be cleaned with a pressure washer?

A low-pressure washer can be used from a safe distance. Do not use close-range high pressure, strong acidic cleaners or corrosive chemicals. For large projects, test a hidden area first.

Cutting, Fastening and Installation

These answers help contractors understand the basic site work before ordering samples or confirming a project quote.

What tools are needed to cut the panels?

Common woodworking tools are enough. A hand saw, circular saw or standard wood-cutting equipment can be used to cut the panels on site.

Is installation difficult?

No. The panels are lightweight and do not require wet masonry work. In many cases, one or two workers with basic carpentry experience can complete the installation quickly.

What fasteners should be used?

Standard screws can be used on many base substrates. The exact fixing method depends on the wall base, project environment and local installation practice.

How should the wall surface be prepared?

The base surface should be clean, dry and stable. Loose dust, oil, peeling paint and weak wall layers should be removed before installation.

How do I avoid repeated stone patterns?

Some stone series have four mold patterns marked No. 1 to No. 4 on the back. Install them in a staggered order so the wall does not show obvious repeated blocks.

How are panels installed on concrete walls?

For concrete walls, installers can use suitable steel nails or screws, often with a pneumatic nail gun depending on the base. Bottom strips and corner trims should be positioned first, then panels are cut and fixed in sequence.

How are panels installed on tile walls?

On stable tile walls, structural adhesive can be used after the surface is cleaned. The panel should be pressed firmly until the bond is secure. For outdoor or heavy-use areas, confirm the adhesive and fixing method before installation.

Will there be gaps around trim strips?

Small gaps are normal over long installation distances because walls, trims and panels all have tolerances. Sealant can be used to close gaps and help prevent water from entering the joint.

How do I finish edges around windows?

The protruding part of the panel can be trimmed so the stone face sits flush with the window trim. This gives the edge a cleaner finish and avoids a bulky corner line.

Outdoor Use, Waterproofing and Color Stability

Outdoor performance depends on the panel finish, wall base, joint sealing and the way the project is installed.

Can PU stone panels be used outdoors?

Yes, selected series are suitable for exterior wall applications. For long outdoor exposure, we normally recommend the in-mold coating finish rather than choosing only by price.

Are the panels waterproof?

The PU material itself is moisture-resistant and does not absorb water like cement-based materials. The wall system still needs correct joint sealing, edge treatment and drainage design for exterior projects.

Will the panels turn yellow outdoors?

The in-mold coating finish is designed for UV and weather resistance. It is used for projects that need stronger outdoor color stability and better anti-yellowing performance.

Will the color fade in rainy weather?

Rain does not wash the color away. For outdoor projects, two finish options are usually discussed: laminated finish for cost-sensitive or shorter-cycle commercial projects, and in-mold coating for stronger weather resistance.

What is the outdoor lifespan of different finishes?

As a practical reference, laminated finish is commonly used with a 2-year official warranty and about 3 to 5 years of outdoor fade resistance. In-mold coating has a 10-year official warranty and is designed for long-term outdoor use, with projects planned around a 20-year service direction under normal conditions.

Will algae or dirt grow on the surface?

The PU material itself does not feed microbial growth. Outdoor dust and sediment can collect on uneven stone texture after long exposure, especially in wet or shaded areas. Regular rinsing keeps the surface cleaner.

Fire Rating, Test Reports and Compliance

Reports should always be checked against the product series and finish being quoted. One report should not be used blindly for every panel.

Is the product fireproof?

No PU decorative panel should be described as fireproof. The material is low-flammable with flame-retardant performance, but it must be kept away from open fire and high-heat sources.

What fire test information is available?

Reference test data includes a flame spread index of 191.13, below 200, and an average flame spread distance of 30.78. It has passed part of the ASTM E-84 related test reference and should be confirmed against the selected product before order confirmation.

What fire grade can be provided?

B2 flame-retardant grade information is available for relevant product systems. If your market needs a specific fire document, tell us before quotation so the selected panel can be checked properly.

What third-party reports do you have?

Available report references include flame resistance, color fastness, formaldehyde testing, B2 fire rating, heavy metal testing and wind resistance information. SGS and other third-party report materials can be shared when they match the actual product series.

Is the product eco-friendly?

The material is non-toxic under normal use and has passed formaldehyde-related testing for relevant product systems. For retail listing or project files, ask for the report that matches the ordered product.

Can the same certificate cover every model?

No. Product size, finish and material system can affect what document applies. Before sending documents to your customer, check the model and report match clearly.

Sizes, Styles, Samples and Packing

Size, thickness and packing quantity affect freight cost, storage, installation speed and distributor margins.

What standard sizes are available?

Common sizes include 1200 x 600 mm, 2400 x 600 mm, 3000 x 600 mm and 3000 x 1200 mm. Stock and lead time depend on the model and order schedule.

Can sizes be customized?

Yes, customized sizes can be discussed. The practical limit depends on mold, thickness, quantity and packing method.

Do different sizes affect strength or performance?

There can be small differences between sizes and thicknesses. Larger panels need more careful handling, packing and installation planning, especially for exterior work.

What size and thickness sell best?

A common popular specification is around 1200 x 600 x 30 mm. Best-selling styles include stone texture panels, shale stone, mountain rock, castle stone and rugged rock textures.

Can you provide samples?

Yes. Samples are useful for checking texture depth, surface finish, color, thickness and how the panel looks under real lighting before a bulk order.

Do you have packaging photos and carton quantities?

Packaging can be customized. Depending on panel thickness, size and style, one carton may hold roughly 3 to 30 pieces. Export-grade plywood frames or pallets can be arranged when needed, with extra cost.

OEM, Mixed Colors and Wholesale Orders

These questions are mainly for distributors, project buyers and importers preparing repeat orders or private brand supply.

Do you support OEM with the customer's own brand?

Yes. OEM carton logo printing is supported for qualified bulk orders. Share your brand direction, carton requirement and target market before pricing.

What is the OEM MOQ?

For private brand customization, the reference MOQ is 500 square meters. Mold fees may be required at the beginning and can be refunded after the agreed order quantity is reached.

Can I mix multiple colors in one container?

Yes. Mixed color loading is allowed. The practical rule is at least one carton per color, so packing and loading can stay organized.

Can you customize colors?

Custom colors can be made based on approved samples or references. Because texture, lighting and coating process affect the final look, color confirmation should be done before mass production.

What information do you need for a quotation?

Send the model number or product photo, size, quantity, application, destination country, preferred finish and any OEM packing needs. With that information, the quotation will be much more accurate.

What gives PU panels a price advantage over cultured stone?

The panel price is only one part of the cost. PU panels are lighter, faster to install and easier to handle, so contractors can often save labor time compared with traditional masonry work.
